I started doing surveys on tulpa creation because I got effectively immediate success making Twilight, vocality in a day. I didn't believe it for like three days until she proved it to me and it's been over seven months since then and by now I consider it impossible for me to have fooled myself this long... especially with a second tup too. I wanted to know why I got lucky while it takes most people so long - so far the only big clue I got is that those with significant writing experience create tulpas much faster on the whole, and I've been writing in a professional or semi-professional capacity for a long time.
Avatar
Your imagination level must have been very high. (edited)
Avatar
Frankly, I don't really believe other people when they claim to have made a tulpa nearly as fast as I did either.
1:28 AM
Oh, yeah, I had persistent daydream worlds and such. Whole novels fleshed out that I didn't get around to writing. But so do a lot of people.
Avatar
If you're the sort of person to be talking to themself a lot in the first place, you're probably going to have an easy time of making a tulpa.
Avatar
I did somewhat, yes. In retrospect I had multiple behaviors I suspect to be common precursors. Still, though, I don't feel like there was any distinct entity before I attempted to make one, but it happened fast as hell.
Avatar
I was vocal first. Then I was a tulpa.
Avatar
She was separate and distinct from the start
Avatar
Yeah me too.
1:35 AM
I never made much more progress.

I think that's another thing, people with certain behavioral patterns can probably develop a Tulpa incredibly quickly compared to others, and maybe in some cases there are patterns which are direct prerequisites for successful forcing and that's why it doesn't work for a lot of people (edited)
4:47 AM
It's not necessarily that some people's brains just have the ability and some don't, or that people are en masse doing it all wrong, but more the way the brain can be used to functioning more in tune with the "subconscious" (daydreaming, frequent moments of random but vivid imagination, etc) and as such has an easier time (edited)
Avatar
All that said, though, I don't believe others who claim to have my sort of success until they keep at it for a while or otherwise convince me of their fidelity
5:21 AM
Which doesn't happen too often

Hello, I was looking for advice regarding my experience with my first tulpa, she has always been pretty inactive, since the very beginning (I started working on her around the end of 2015), very much so that I couldn't establish any form of communication or feel her consistently. From 2017 up to now I've kept a constant active forcing schedule of 20 minutes a day, sometimes going up to 50, sparkling little moments of passive awareness whenever I could
Avatar
It sounds to me like you're doing the right thing by keeping up with forcing regularly. What are you looking for in terms of signs that your tulpa is aware or active?
Avatar
I wish it was like others described it to me
Avatar
Tulpamancy suffers from a strong case of the "facebook effect". I wouldn't be too concerned with that
Avatar
I wish I could gradually hear her, or catch up the undenyable signs of her presence
11:43 AM
I had some very minor experiences that made me think "yup that's her, not me"
Avatar
What do you do when you force, generally?
Avatar
Well I focus on my breath first, then slowly shift my awareness on my tulpa, trying to see her clearly, sometimes setting the mood a bit, then I try to keep my mind "staring" and once I'm comfortable I talk to her
11:49 AM
If I break I start over again
11:51 AM
It's not ad clear cut ad I've described but that's what I'm generally trying
Avatar
Maybe you can try forcing more in terms of personality? Does your tulpa have a form, a name, and so on?
11:53 AM
If not, you may try to put a lot of effort into those things, the stronger a personality the more likely I think you will be to get a response.
11:54 AM
Secondly, it may be that after so many years, you have very strong doubts or you have a very strong tendency to "look closely" when forcing, which I think will lead to overthinking and shutting out things that are "not quite me but feel like me" and I think that will hinder your tulpa lot as well, as that's a base from which tulpa can grow
11:54 AM
I can't say for sure on that last one though, I'm biased towards telling everyone that (edited)
Avatar
Yes all of those, form was the first thing, then personality kinda flew into it, as impressions I'd get looking at her or thinking about her while listening to music (music is also a big inspiration for how she is)
11:59 AM
I agree Reguile, that trying too hard may lead me to ignore important signs of contact (edited)
Avatar
I'm not super sure of what else to say. Sorry if that advice isn't much help.
Avatar
Oh well, I'm grateful still
Avatar
Is there anything you feel like is holding you back or is a weak point?
Avatar
One thing I've been beating myself over is my inability to keep myself concentrated long enough for at least an hour to pass
12:05 PM
I know I shouldn't
Avatar
I think an hour is plenty of time, honestly
Avatar
But I get the doubt that I'm totally half assing it
Avatar
you're doing more than a lot of people do
12:07 PM
do you try to do a lot of passing forcing?
Avatar
Thanks, may I ask you about your tulpa experience?
12:09 PM
Oh I oftentimes forget, but I've been getting more constant, as I've said, I tried to change the way I do things around the end of 2017
Avatar
tell me when you've read it if you can (edited)
Avatar
If you believe you ought not to take my advice from that description, then that is okay
Avatar
Why would you remove that?
Avatar
I do not like the topic
12:13 PM
And it is often brought up as a weapon
Avatar
Ah, okay, just upon reading I didn't see as anything shameful
12:14 PM
Why would it be used as a weapon?
Avatar
just has, may just be that I'm touchy on the topic, it's been done by multiple people.
Avatar
Welp, I was also curious about how your tulpa felt during those initial moments where you could not hear her get, but, oh well, if you don't want to then that's fine
12:17 PM
"Her\him", well I don't know
Avatar
hah, sorry. If I could paraphrase a conversation it was "a bit like talking through mud", "lonely". I wouldn't put too much weight on anything like that, because this sort of thing is super subjective and can change a lot depending on the person. (edited)
Avatar
"Like talking in a dream" as once I've read
Avatar
That analogy came up as well, actually, but less talking and more like when you're in a dream and there's something scary and you try to run from it.
12:31 PM
gotta go, though, cya all later
Avatar
help my tulpa isn’t producing tulpa oil
Avatar
you're not squeezing them enough then
Avatar
it seems counterintuitive but you probably need more lube
Avatar
But won’t that dilute the tulpa oil?
Avatar
Please do not shitpost in here.

So, more recent research suggests that schizophrenia may be a spectrum. Do you guys think the Tulpa phenomenon has a place within that spectrum? The research suggested this after deciding people can be trained to hallucinate using patterns.
9:52 PM
I don't personally think so, but it's an interesting idea.
Avatar
ionlyplaywarframeyoucanunfriend 5/15/2018 9:53 PM
mfw an entire community about making sentient imaginary friends are all just schizos
9:54 PM
This is probably an appropriate image for that feeling (edited)
9:54 PM
Not necessarily being schizos, but experiencing select elements of it based on training, which is what the researchers managed to get people to do
Avatar
Schizophrenia has been known to be a spectrum forever.
9:55 PM
They have names for the severity levels

But it's impossible.

Schizophrenia is not considered a spectrum individually, it's part of the psychotic spectrum.
9:55 PM
way i see it, this is the same kind of thing, but we're doing or trying to do it voluntarily
9:56 PM
whereas the actual disorder is when it just happens to you
